I was aware that when I'd just started Windows 10 for the first time it was asking a vague question that seemed to have swapped public/private firewall priorities around, which seemed really odd, and hinted of data corruption.Īnyway, the actual fix for me was really simple and has been robust past several restarts/power cycles. The partial wifi connection as 'public' seemed to clearly show an issue with authentication, but not an obvious cause. The only temporary solution I had up to this point was to disable and re-enable the wifi device per session, which at least allowed me to connect to the internet.
I've been battling a similar sounding problem for a few days, tried every hack I could find on the internet, resetting the access point(s), updating drivers, older drivers/newer drivers, Microsoft drivers/Broadcom drivers, command line hacks to reset tcp etc, nothing worked.
